3rd February 2019 – report from World Premier, Genesis Cinema, London, UK
We woke up trying to balance our nerves with excitement as we prepared to screen ‘Oil In The Blood’ to an audience for the very first time. For three years, and over three interviews, this labour of love has been an intimate affair, but today was the day when we finally revealed it to the public.
We screened at The Gemini Cinema in Whitechapel, East London. A recently renovated art-house theatre, the film was shown in their main screen to over five hundred people. A wonderful mix of friends, family, collaborators, investors and the main players in the London and UK contemporary motorcycle scene turned up on sunny Sunday’s winter afternoon.
The film looked and sounded fantastic on a huge screen. The audience loved it, the buzz after the screening was incredible, and en-mass we moved to The Bike Shed in Shoreditch for the after-party.
The main focus of the after-party was the reveal of the TW Steel ‘Oil In The Blood’ Energica Eva collaboration electric special built by Calum Pryce-Tidd of deBolex Engineering. The bike was built to celebrate the launch of ‘Oil In Blood’, and was conceptualised to capture the key historical and future-facing themes of the film. Calum built the bike in two short months, and the result is breathtaking. The flowing, sleek design, shrouded in intricate hand formed aluminium, creates classic race lines for this ballsy Italian electric street fighter. The party guests gave it a huge roar of approval as the cover was pulled back. TW Steel also revealed their collaboration limited edition ‘Oil In The Blood’ timepiece.
We finished the day exhausted but elated, the screening and the bike reveal was a huge success, and a fitting kickstart for the subsequent ‘Oil In The Blood’ tour.
